my sister in law gave me a set of these types of rubber earring backings as a stocking stuffer a few years ago. I've been looking for them every since so was happy to see these available on Amazon in bulk no less. I always have problems with earring backings not being tight enough or too small so they slip through my ear lobe holes (stretched out due to heavy '80's earrings!). I literally switched on all my earring backs to these rubber ones once I received the package. These absolutely stay on no matter what the size earring stem is. They are soft clear rubber - not stiff plastic.

They are a little big. I would prefer smaller ones, but, I am using them and they work well. They seem made well too when I take them on and off they don't break etc. UPDATE: Just because I gave them 3 stars, I was contacted by the company, given excellent customer service and replacement of my choice at no charge. Highly recommend them!
